What is a 3D Scan?

The 3D Scan is similar to the Compliance scan, but with one added step. If you are unsure how to do a Compliance Scan, please learn and practice the compliance scan first.

How to do a Compliance Scan?

Why does my company care about 3D scans? 

The primary purpose of a 3D Scan is identify high and low selling products on a specific display, so that low-selling products can be replaced with higher-selling alternatives. This results in a significant increase in sales. 

A 3D scan is actually the combination of two scans:

• one scan before you add any new products to the display (in order to quantify what has sold since the last scan)
• one scan after you add new products (in order to quantify how many units in total are in the display when you leave).

When 3D scans are done consistently, Delicious AI can measure the count of each product taken from a cooler and provide recommendations for increasing sales.

Here is a quick example: 

• Monday 6am: Billy merchandiser conducts a 3D pre-scan, then restocks the cooler with new products.
• Monday 6:15am: Billy merchandiser conducts a 3D post scan. The scan identifies the following: 
  • 10 Coke Original
  • 10 Diet Coke
  • 10 Fanta
• Tuesday, 6am: Mary merchandiser conducts a 3D pre-scan. The scan identifies the following:
  • 8 Coke Originals 
  • 2 Diet Coke
  • 5 Fanta
  • Monday's Recap: As you can see, Diet Coke was the best performing product, and Coke Original performed the worst. 
• Tuesday, 6:15am: Mary merchandiser conducts the 3D post scan. The scan identifies the following: 
  • 10 Coke Original
  • 10 Diet Coke
  • 10 Fanta are present. 

The app is now ready for Wednesday's merchandiser to conduct a 3D pre-scan to quantify what sold on Tuesday. 

Follow 3 steps to complete a 3D scan

1. Pre-Scan

1. Scan QR Code in cooler, then tap "Begin Scan"
2. Align Bounding Box with Cooler, and Scan products
3. 3D Scan each shelf to count products and create Point Cloud
   
   1. Move device in and out 3 times at each shelf (left, center, right) to create point cloud

2. Restock to Plan

1.  After Pre-scan, Tap "View Plan"
2. Restock cooler according to Cooler Plan
3. After restocking, tap "Products Restocked Correctly"

3. Post-Scan (repeat of Pre-Scan)

1. Tap "Begin Scan"
2. Align Bounding Box with Cooler, and Scan products
3. 3D Scan each shelf to count products
   
   1. Move device in and out 3 times at each shelf (left, center, right) to create point cloud

3D Scans will grade you on how accurately the cooler was restocked. Restock according to the plan to get a high Compliance Score and climb the leaderboard!
